Basic errors in the recent IPCC synthesis report

This is an email I sent to a mutual fund company executive as part of an ongoing discussion.

First up, an article explaining how the opposition to reliable energy sources is causing the prices of all energy to rise, making the grid less reliable, increasing energy insecurity for the world.

Second, a lengthy analysis of some of the great number of basic errors in the recent IPCC Synthesis Report was just published by CLINTEL, matching many similar comments by other experts but this one is the most comprehensive I’ve seen yet. You will not want to read it all, but pages 15-30 of the full document provide an excellent summary and my own version with highlights of what I found most interesting is attached. I don’t know about your scientific background or ability to digest scientific publications and data, but I think the summary will make it clear enough that the IPCC’s nature and processes have become worse with each iteration of their reports, to the point where they are undermining basic principles of the scientific method on a scale never seen before – tragic. I may not have told you that I did a master’s degree in exercise science at McGill, and the greatest asset I retain from that is an ability absorb, analyze and critique scientific literature reports. I’ve been reading on this subject for 23 years and consider myself a non-professional expert on the subject. Anything in this report or elsewhere that you have questions about, I can either answer with references to the literature or find an expert who can.
